Job summary

Piering Law Firm in Sacramento, CA is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Paralegal to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys, clients, medical providers, insurers, and experts to move cases forward efficiently.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of substantive paralegal experience, preferably in personal injury law.
• Solid understanding of California civil litigation procedures and court rules.
• Experience with discovery, motion practice, court filings, and trial preparation.
• Hands-on experience filing/e-filing in California state courts. Familiarity with filing/e-filing in California Federal court is a plus.
• Strong legal writing, proofreading, grammar, and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.

Responsibilities

• Draft discovery requests and responses, pleadings, correspondence, subpoenas, and other litigation documents.
• Prepare, review, and file/e-file Judicial Council forms, pleadings, and other documents in California state court and, on occasion, California Federal court.
• Manage case calendaring, litigation deadlines, and court scheduling.
• Organize, review, analyze, and maintain large volumes of electronic and paper documents
• Coordinate document productions and manage all phases of discovery and e-discovery.
• Prepare tables of contents, tables of authorities, trial notebooks, exhibits, witness files, and other trial materials.
• Draft medical summaries, case chronologies, and settlement demand support as needed
• Support attorneys with trial prep, mediations, depositions, and hearings.

The right candidate is organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities. You'll work closely with attorneys, clients, medical providers, insurance adjusters, and experts to keep every case moving forward.
