Job summary

The Wernimont Lab at the University of Minnesota is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to join our research team focused on placenta biology, maternal‑fetal health, and placental development. This full‑time position offers access to state‑of‑the‑art facilities and opportunities for professional growth.

The appointment is initially for one year with potential renewal based on performance and funding, including mentorship of students and collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in molecular biosciences, cellular biology, developmental biology, physiology, genetics, or related field.
  • Strong background in cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and/or bioinformatics.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments to investigate placenta biology.
  • Utilize molecular, cellular, and bioinformatics approaches to analyze placental structure and function.
  • Develop and apply novel techniques to study trophoblast differentiation, mitochondrial function, and nutrient transport.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present data at scientific conferences and in peer‑reviewed publications.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students as part of the lab's training mission.
