Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a PKI Systems Administrator to advance our customers' operations while advancing your career. You will build an impactful career in enterprise IT, collaborating with driven and resourceful colleagues.

As a PKI Systems Administrator, you will manage PKI infrastructure, administer certificates, and develop policies. Expect to work in a fast-paced environment with opportunities to contribute meaningfully to mission support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/IT or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Strong understanding of public/private key cryptography and digital certificates.
  • Hands-on experience in managing CAs, RAs, and HSMs.
  • Experience with PKI tools and technologies.
  • Knowledge of X.509, TLS/SSL, OCSP, CRLs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain, and monitor all PKI systems and infrastructure.
  • Administer and manage digital certificates, including issuance, renewal, and revocation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve PKI-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Develop and enforce PKI-related policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Conduct periodic audits of the PKI environment to ensure reliability and effectiveness.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of PKI configuration, processes, and workflows.

As a PKI Systems Administrator, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the customer’s mission.

  • Manage, maintain, and monitor all PKI systems and infrastructure.

  • Administer and manage digital certificates, including issuance, renewal, and revocation.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Bring your technology expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The PKI Systems Administrator must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field. Experience may be substituted for education.

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.

  • Strong understanding of public/private key cryptography and digital certificates.

  • Hands‑on experience in managing certificate authorities (CAs), registration authorities (RAs), and hardware security modules (HSMs).

  • Experience with PKI tools and technologies.

  • Knowledge of industry standards and protocols (e.g., X.509, TLS/SSL, OCSP, CRLs).

  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or similar).

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

The likely salary range for this position is $127,500 - $172,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
