SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

As an Information Management Officer (IMO) on our team you will provide expert technical and information management support to the Mission Command Training Program (MCTP), the U.S. Army's capstone combat training center located at Fort Leavenworth, KS. You will act as the principal liaison for all IT and communications systems, ensuring seamless integration and operation during worldwide, multi-echelon Warfighter Exercises (WFX).

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Systems Administrator, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of MCTP. Your role will be crucial for enabling the training audience—Army Service Component Commands, Corps, Divisions, and Brigades—to effectively conduct unified land operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Information system management: Serve as the primary point of contact for all information systems and IT requirements, coordinating with the installation's Network Enterprise Center (NEC) and other external agencies.
  • Exercise planning and execution: Participate in the Exercise Life Cycle (ELC), including planning conferences and site surveys, to determine technical requirements and design the appropriate C2 support structure. Support the setup, transition, and teardown of IT infrastructure for all training and support activities.
  • Technical support: Provide on-site troubleshooting and technical support for Army Mission Command Systems (AMCS), collaborative tools, and other IT equipment used during Warfighter Exercises.

  • Cybersecurity and information assurance: Enforce Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Army (DA) information assurance (IA) policies. Maintain system compliance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF), including applying security patches (IAVAs) and managing security authorization processes.
  • Knowledge management: Oversee the development and management of tools and processes for effective knowledge and information sharing across the staff and with subordinate units during exercises. Manage the flow of commander's critical information requirements (CCIR).
  • Equipment and asset management: Coordinate the lifecycle management, procurement, and deployment of IT hardware and software, ensuring training assets are available and maintained.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
  • Education: A Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of related IT experience, working independently or under general direction on complex application problems involving all functions of systems administration.
  • Technical skills:
    • DoD Cyber Work Force (DCWF) Qualification: Must meet DoD Manual (DoDM) 8140 qualifications with a primary DCWF role of Technical Support Specialist (411) and a secondary role of System Administrator (451), both at the Intermediate tier. The required foundational qualifications for these roles may include a combination of education, training, and industry certifications, such as Security+.
    • Operational knowledge: Proven experience with Army Mission Command Systems (AMCS) and constructive training simulations. Strong understanding of Army operations, including the military decision-making process (MDMP) and warfighting functions.
  • Security clearance level: Secret required
  • Role requirements: Experience supporting training exercises at the Brigade, Division, or Corps level is highly desirable.
