Job summary

TMS International is seeking a Hot Pit Operator for our Axis, AL site. You will operate heavy equipment and conduct pre-operation inspections to ensure safe daily use.

This role requires rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends, and the ability to work with hot materials such as slag and steel. A strong safety mindset and reliable transportation are essential.

Qualifications

• Reliable transportation to get to and from work.

Responsibilities

• Operate Caterpillar or Komatsu wheel loaders.
• Work rotating 12 hr shifts Nights and Weekends.
• Handle hot materials such as slag and steel safely.
• Conduct preoperational inspections and document findings.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment before/after use.
• Maintain clear radio and written communication with team.
• Ensure equipment is safe and ready for daily use.
• Report unsafe conditions or damages immediately.

We are currently seeking a Hot Pit Operator at our site in Axis, AL.

Key Responsibilities:

• Experience in operating Caterpillar or Komatsu wheel loaders.
• Ability to work rotating 12 hr. shifts Nights and Weekends included.
• Ability to work with Hot material such as slag and steel safely.
• Perform proper Preoperational inspection and write down findings.
• Conduct regular maintenance on equipment before and after use such as cleaning windows, washing, and assisting with greasing.
• Good radio and work communication with other employees.
• Ensure equipment is safe and prepared for daily use.
• Communicate any unsafe findings or equipment damage immediately to supervision.
