Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a Pit Loader Operator to join our team in Georgia. The ideal candidate will be safety conscious, dependable and motivated, and will operate a pit loader to maintain product stockpile quality while upholding site safety leadership with truck traffic on site.

Hours are 6:30 am to 5:00 pm with potential overtime on weekends. Applicants should have a HS diploma or GED, 3+ years in related equipment operation, and some loader experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years' experience operating mobile/construction equipment.
• 6 months' experience operating a front-end loader preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate a pit loader safely and efficiently within company guidelines and safety standards.
• Perform daily pre- and post-shift inspections of working areas and ensure berms/roadways are adequate.
• Conduct pre-shift safety inspections of equipment and report repairs to supervisor.
• Maintain safe operations around conveyors, surge piles and crushers.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance (tire pressure, oil, grease, fuel, hoses, moving parts).
• Assist in training coworkers and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What to expect

Martin Marietta is seeking a Pit Loader Operator to join our team. The ideal individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a Pit Loader and maintaining the quality of product stockpiles. The pit loader will maintain safe working speeds and promote site safety by asserting leadership of truck drivers onsite.

Hours

Hours are 6:30 am - 5:00 pm including weekends and overtime as necessary.

Typical day for a(n) Pit Loader Operator may include

• Operating a pit loader within the company guidelines and safety standards
• Completing daily pre and post inspection of working areas and ensures they are equipped with adequate berms and roadways
• Performing pre-shift safety inspection on equipment and reports needed repairs to the supervisor
• Ensuring safe operations around conveyors, surge piles and crushers
• Performing daily preventative maintenance - tire pressure, oil, grease, diesel fuel, hoses for leaks and all moving parts for proper function
• Maintaining safe traffic flow throughout the site
• Operating other equipment such as excavators and haul trucks in a safe manner as needed
• Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor

What you may be a good fit if you

• Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
• Have 3 plus years’ experience in the maintenance and operation of mobile equipment, construction equipment and/or equipment used processing plants
• Have six (6) months of experience in the operation and maintenance of a front-end loader (preferred)
