Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. in Chapel Hill seeks a Piping/Plumbing Designer II to transform design concepts into precise layouts for energy-efficient building systems. You will work from basis of design, user input, field surveys, and code research to develop reliable piping solutions.

The role demands knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and current CAD tools (AutoCAD/REVIT), with Navisworks a plus. Join our collaborative team in expanding healthcare, science, and energy projects.

Qualifications

Technical or Associate Degree in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or architectural design, or commensurate experience.
Fundamental knowledge of building systems and experience in at least one discipline such as fire protection, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing/piping, or process systems.
Experience operating engineering design software and current versions of AutoCAD and/or REVIT; Navisworks preferred.
Ability to interpret design criteria and convert into specific layouts.
Understanding of applicable design codes and specification requirements.

Responsibilities

Convert system design concepts into specific layouts from basis of design and information from users, project partners, field surveys, and code research.
Collaborate with team to develop energy-efficient building solutions and support project goals.
Ensure accurate interpretations of design criteria and adherence to codes and standards.
