Job summary

Zachry Group in the United States is seeking a Designer II, Piping to join our design team on energy and chemical projects. You will develop piping layouts, create IFC packages, and interface with other disciplines to ensure accurate, code-compliant drawings.

Responsibilities include 2D/3D CAD work, Plant 3D and Aveva E3D proficiency, field note capture, and mentoring junior designers. Travel to sites may be required to support project goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or associate degree with adequate drafting courses.
• 10+ years of experience in design requirements for Energy & Chemical industry.
• Must have Plant 3D and/or Aveva E3D.
• Chemical/Refinery/Power/LNG background.
• Ability to take field notes and sketches to develop IFC packages including pipe layouts, plan drawings, generate isometrics, bulk bill of materials, line lists, tie-in lists.
• Field assignments involving travel to sites in industrial facilities.
• Strong communication skills for inter-discipline, client, vendor, and construction coordination.
• Strong piping design skills per industry standards and codes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, CADWorx, MS Office, Navisworks.
• P&ID walk down capability.
• Research, analytical and problem-solving skills; time management.
• Self-starter with initiative and ability to complete deliverables with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prepare piping layouts and conceptual design for complex problems.
• Prepare complex piping design drawings and interface with other design disciplines.
• Become proficient with 2D and 3D CAD capabilities as required.
• Check complex drawings.
• Work independently with little supervision.
• Perform squad check of vendor equipment drawings and drawings from other disciplines.
• Provide guidance to junior piping designers.
• Communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
• Travel as required to support project goals.
• Participate in piping department training and work-share with domestic or international teams.
• Assist Piping Design Leadership as needed.
• Support with change notices and manhour estimates.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
