Job summary

Hargrove Engineers + Constructors seeks a Piping Designer in Beaumont, TX to perform routine design tasks and assist with larger projects. You will draft piping drawings from sketches, reference project specs, and support field design activities to confirm conditions and locate new systems.

The role requires 2+ years of mechanical or piping drafting experience, proficiency in 2D AutoCAD and Microstation, and strong communication skills. On-site startup support is expected.

Qualifications

  • Education in line with drafting roles and mechanical piping standards.
  • Experience with mechanical or piping drafting is required (2+ years).
  • Familiarity with department drafting standards and project scope.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting and designing piping drawings from sketches and engineering information.
  • Assist in field design to verify conditions and collect data on site.
  • Prepare material take-offs from piping drawings.
  • Communicate scope/design changes promptly to project team.
  • Provide on-site assistance during startup as needed.

Job description

What You'll Be DoingJob Scope: The Piping Designer is generally responsible for performing routine design of less complex design assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This level is expected to assist in the design of larger and more complex mechanical/piping assignments. This work will be performed under general supervision in our Beaumont office.Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards.Familiarity with project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.Accomplishing the drafting and design activities in developing piping drawings from sketches and engineering information.Assisting in accomplishing field design work to ascertain current conditions, locate new systems, communicate with client personnel and assist in construction.Preparing material take-offs from piping drawings.Recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly.On-site assistance during startup.Ideal BackgroundEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.Experience: Requires 2+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical or piping drafting and design.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge and application of piping materials in respect to drafting.Drafting of utility and process piping drawings, P&ID’s and GA’s.Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.Working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD and Microstation.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.Good communication skills, both verbal and written.Virtual team skillsPhysical Requirements:Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.Hargrove CultureWe work to create an environment founded on trust, personal integrity, and a “team mentality” so that each person understands the value of their contributions both on a project and company-wide level.
