Job summary

Actalent in Broomfield, CO is seeking a piping design professional to produce complex 3D piping layouts for heavy industrial projects such as oil and gas, mining, and water treatment. You will develop 3D models in CADWorx Plant or AutoCAD Plant 3D, interpret P&IDs, and deliver complete design packages on schedule.

You will collaborate with engineers, mentor junior designers, and contribute to design standards while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines in a fully onsite role.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of piping design experience in heavy industrial environments.
• Proficiency with CADWorx Plant or AutoCAD Plant 3D to build 3D piping models.
• Experience with P&IDs, 3D modeling, and 3D design workflows.
• Strong Navisworks knowledge and ability to present designs.
• Proficient AutoCAD skills including Lisp routines and layer management.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and CAD proficiency.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication with engineers and designers.
• Attention to detail and organized technical documentation.
• Ability to multitask in a project-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Produce complex piping layouts, plans, sections, and elevations for heavy industrial projects.
• Develop and manage 3D piping models using CADWorx Plant or AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Interpret P&IDs and design specs to create complete piping design packages.
• Prepare and update drawings in AutoCAD with drafting standards.
• Use Navisworks to review models, perform clash checks, and support reviews.
• Coordinate with engineers to clarify design intent and resolve issues.
• Apply CAD skills to optimize layouts for safety and maintainability.
• Support small projects independently with minimal supervision.
• Contribute to group design standards, templates, and workflows.
• Mentor junior designers and share best practices.
• Maintain high detail, organization, and accuracy in drawings.
• Prioritize tasks and multitask while meeting schedules.
• Participate in design reviews and model walkthroughs.
