HF Sinclair Midstream located in Artesia, NM is seeking a Pipeline Technician. This position conducts assignments for master responsibilities for a specified area of transportation at HFSM pipeline. The Pipeline Technician is responsible for the maintenance and safe operation of crude and refined products pipeline.

Job Duties

(functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
Works primarily on pipeline equipment, right of way and pump stations
Perform preventative maintenance on pumps, pipeline, right of way and stations
Completes maintenance records, work orders and other required records/documentation
Ensures equipment is operating properly
Responds to upsets and abnormal operating instances
Verifies compliance with DOT requirements
Performs regulatory required inspections
Ensures operations and safety procedures are followed at all times
Represents the company to third parties
Calibrates safety equipment
Recommend and implement improvements and/or modification in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters
Responds to emergency situations
Analyzes data on related components and systems, processes and methods, to aid operations with decisions
Must be able to read vibration signatures and evaluate machinery condition from vibration data
Must be able to isolate the affected machinery component, recognize various common problems, and be able to make recommendations for continued operation or scheduled repairs
May be responsible for one call system, monitoring one calls, and dispatching to the location as needed

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

Experience

A minimum of 3 years job-related pipeline experience is required.

A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:
A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Required Skills

Working knowledge of the pipeline industry or related industry. Strong background in rotating equipment, pumps, pipeline maintenance and operation practices. An intermediate level of reading and writing ability and intermediate level ability to perform mathematical calculation is required. Intermediate proficiency with computers, operating systems and management systems. Must be able to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
General familiarization with DOT safety rules and regulations is preferred.

Work Conditions

Office and field/refinery based with up to 25% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse and plant environment, out-of-doors, and driver environments, including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, and exposure to the risk of electrical shock. Subject to all temperatures, weather and varying road conditions.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs., pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing up to 5 FT, perceiving color differences, required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations (beards are not permitted), ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, valid State driver’s license and proof of insurance required, and strenuous physical activity.
