Job summary

Kinder Morgan is seeking a field technician to operate and maintain gas pipelines and compression facilities with a focus on safety, compliance, and reliability. The role involves hands-on work on valves, pipes, compressors, and related equipment, plus collaboration with landowners and other teams to ensure efficient, compliant operations.

You will perform routine maintenance, assist in projects, manage documentation, respond to callouts after hours, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office, operating systems).
• Basic math skills: add/subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, decimals.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• Customer focus and safety awareness.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability for shift work and standby when needed.
• Ability to work with others and take direction.
• Ability to organize, plan, and document work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work with customers, suppliers, and management.
• Possess a valid driver's license; CDL may be required.
• Achieve and maintain Operator Qualifications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain pipelines and compression facilities.
• Install, repair, and service valves, pipes, and appurtenances.
• Maintain facilities and right-of-way in good condition.
• Support projects, including excavation oversight and leak surveys.
• Represent the company in meetings with landowners and officials.
• Oversee work by third parties and train personnel.
• Perform governmental compliance activities (PHMSA, EPA, etc.).
• Identify and report safety and environmental concerns.
• Participate in safety programs and procedures development.
• Complete required documentation and regulatory records.
• Respond to callouts and emergencies after hours as needed.
• Maintain regular attendance and flexibility to travel.
• Work from elevated platforms and in varied conditions.
