Job summary

Garney Construction is seeking a Pipelayer in the Greenville area to assemble, install and repair underground piping for water, sewer and drain projects. The role requires prior pipe-laying experience and the ability to work with various pipe materials and fittings in trench environments.

The position involves coordinating with equipment operators, following safety trainings, and traveling as needed. Garney offers competitive benefits and the chance to contribute to large-diameter piping

Qualifications

• Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, storm drain.
• Willing to complete trainings and certifications provided by Garney (Rigging and Signaling Certification, Confined Space Training, OSHA 10).
• Must be willing to travel and work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the area where pipe will lay by directing trenching and grading.
• Perform functions of a Laborer as required.
• Assist equipment operators in the placement of pipe.
• Direct equipment operators with hand signals.
• Backfill around pipe using hand tools.
• Set up and work with pipe lasers and transits.
• Locate and mark the position of pipe and fittings in an underground trench.
• Assemble and install valves, fittings and pipe as required.
• Join pipes by screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic cement.
• Test pipes for leakage and measure/cut pipe.
• Promote Garney goals and philosophies.

A Pipelayer position is available at Garney. To be considered for this position you must have previous experience with pipe laying. As a Pipelayer , you will assemble, install and repair underground pipes and fittings. This includes, but not limited to, metallic and plastic pipe, ductile iron pipe, steel pipe and concrete pipe for water, sewer and drain work.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Prepare the area in which pipe will lay by directing trenching and grading
• Perform functions of a Laborer as required
• Assist equipment Operators in the placement of pipe
• Direct equipment Operators with hand signals
• Backfill around pipe using hand tools
• Set-up and work with pipe lasers and transits
• Locate and mark the correct position of pipe and fittings in an underground trench
• Assemble and install valves, fitting and pipe composed of metal, PVC, ductile and concrete
• Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement
• Test pipes for leakage. Measures and cuts pipe
• Promote Garney Goals and Philosophies
