Job summary

Garney is seeking a laborer in Greenville, SC to prepare trenches, direct pipe placement, and assist with pipe installation across water, sewer, and storm drain projects. You will work with operators, read pipe lasers, and ensure accurate layout while contributing to safety and efficiency on site.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, storm drain.
• Must be willing to complete trainings and certifications provided by Garney, such as Rigging and Signaling Certification, Confined Space Training Certification, and OSHA 10 hour.
• Must be willing to travel and work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the area in which pipe will lay by directing trenching and grading.
• Perform functions of a Laborer as required.

• Backfill around pipe using hand tools.
• Set-up and work with pipe lasers and transits.
• Locate and mark the correct position of pipe and fittings in an underground trench.
• Assemble and install valves, fittings and pipe composed of metal, PVC, ductile and concrete.
• Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement.
• Test pipes for leakage. Measures and cuts pipe.
