Job summary

Premier Underground Construction LLC is seeking a field technician to install PVC conduit and fittings for underground dry utilities. This position is Safety Sensitive and involves safety-critical duties.

As a helper, you assist the Foreman with project preparation, confirm conduit routing, and coordinate material deliveries. You lay out trench routes, install conduit, manholes and pads, and monitor equipment to meet project schedules.

Responsibilities

• Assist Foreman in project preparation, layout, and upholding goals to meet project schedule.
• Confirm conduit routing for underground bends, equipment stubs, and elevations.
• Coordinate resources and open communication with Foreman for material deliveries and pickups.
• Inspect materials daily and report damaged items to Foreman for replacement.
• Install, cut, and connect PVC conduit using glue, primer, and saw to meet requirements.
• Install manholes, pull boxes, hand holes, junction boxes, transformer pads, SES pads, and other pads per prints and elevations.
• Provide trench protection equipment and ensure proper use of trench boxes, shoring, and ladders.
• Maintain and fill out confined space entries for PVC conduit connections.
• Demonstrate ongoing effort to improve operations and customer service through efficient workflows.
• Communicate orally with customers and clients in face-to-face settings.

Job description

The General purpose of this position is to install of PVC conduit and fitting to dry utilities underground conduit. This job has been classified by Premier Underground as being Safety Sensitive and containing Safety Sensitive Functions.

New Project

• Assists the Foreman in the preparation of a project including but not limited to requirements, project layout and upholding goals to meet project schedule.
• Assists the Foreman in the confirmation of all conduit routing for underground bends, equipment stub-ups and elevations.
• Coordination of Resources
• Coordinates openly with Foreman for emergency material delivers and pick-ups.
• Carries out inspection of materials daily and reports findings to Foreman immediately if any material is damaged and needs to be replaced.
• Project Cost Management
• Seeks approval from Foreman for material needed immediately on the field.

Field Operations Progress& Status

• Monitors daily construction procedures to ensure that proper quality is maintained, and work is adhering to schedule.
• Align and position conduit in trench and to SES, transformer, switch gear, vaults and other electrical equipment.
• Confirm elevation slopes for conformance to project specified requirements.
• Layout conduit routing following written instructions, blueprints and coordinating layout with Foreman, Supervisor and or Utility Company.
• Install, cut and make PVC conduit connections using glue, primer and saw to meet requirements
• Install manhole, pull box, hand holes, junction box, transformer pads, SES pads, switch pads and others as needed per prints and grade elevations.
• Install trench protection equipment such as trench box, hydraulic shoring, and ladders.
• Install and properly fill out confined space equipment for manhole entries to make PVC conduit connections.
• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
• Communicate orally with customers, clients or the public in face-to-face, one-on-one settings

Field Operations

• Ensures cleanliness of excavation work area and inspects for proper hazardous conditions before and after daily task.
• Assess the need for trench protection and install as necessary to protect from cave-ins.
• Inspects daily excavation work area and adjacent area as well as protective systems inspection and submits findings to Foreman.

Field Operations

• Help provide information of daily trench logs; equipment logs to Foreman.
• Help provide information of T&M work done daily and sends directly to Foreman.
