Job summary

Fletcher Technical Community College in Thibodaux, LA, seeks an experienced Pipefitting Instructor to deliver hands-on instruction in pipefitting, safety, equipment operation, and industry practices. This full-time faculty role reports to the Associate Dean of Energy & Advanced Technologies and aims to prepare students for skilled trades careers.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of pipefitting experience, knowledge to teach multiple courses, and a commitment to student success and safety.

Qualifications

  • At least 36 months of professional pipefitting experience.
  • Knowledge of and ability to teach a variety of pipefitting courses.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in pipefitting for credit and non-credit courses.
  • Teach safe and proper use of tools, equipment, supplies, and fitting procedures.
  • Inspect student work and assess the quality, accuracy, and strength of pipefitting projects.
  • Complete fitting inspection and student progress documentation.
  • Develop course materials, syllabi, assignments, assessments, and demonstrations aligned with approved curriculum.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and industry-relevant learning environment.
  • Ensure classroom, laboratory, equipment, and instructional technology are operational.
  • Provide timely feedback, tutoring, advising, and mentorship to students.
  • Help students prepare for employment, certification, licensure, and continued education.
  • Build relationships with business and industry partners to support workforce opportunities.
  • Participate in program advisory committees, recruitment and retention activities, college events, professional development, and required meetings.
  • Teach welding courses when qualified and assigned.
  • Work occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on course and program needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do:

NCCER Core or OSHA certification may be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
