Responsibilities

• Anchor steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.
• Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings, using bolts, gasket kit or welding equipment.
• Attach pipes to walls or welding equipment.
• Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes or pipe fittings, using hand or power tools.
• Cut, thread using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders.
• Direct helpers engaged in pipe cutting, preassembly, or installation of mechanical systems or components.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
• Must be able to make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the systems and equipment worked on are in hard-to-reach places.
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
• Must be able to frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds.
