Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking a Pipefitter to install, modify and repair piping systems on shipbuilding projects. You will read drawings, plan routing, elevations and component placement to ensure leak‑free joints and proper operation of pumps, gauges and pressure regulators.

Must have a High School diploma or equivalent; only candidates eligible for U.S. citizenship are considered. The role offers multiple shifts and is full-time on-site at our shipyard.

Responsibilities

• Install, modify and repair piping systems and equipment from drawings, blueprints and sketches.
• Plan routing, placement, pitch and elevation of piping systems; install hangers and components to ensure proper operation.
• Join, seal, and test systems for leak-free joints and correct pressures.
