Electric Boat is the premier designer and builder of nuclear-powered submarines for the US Navy, experiencing a period of unprecedented growth. We seek individuals eager to learn and grow within our Pipefitting Department as we continue to build the most advanced submarines.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Fabricate and install piping systems for ship's liquids and gases at various pressures.
  2. Apply measurement, fit-up, bending, and installation skills to meet tight tolerances.
  3. Perform pipe fit-up involving welded joints, silver brazed joints, or mechanically fastened joints.
  4. Work with piping of all sizes, from very small tubing to large diameters.
  5. Systems include hydraulic, lube oil, low-pressure air, steam, seawater, chilled water, and potable water.
  6. Prepare systems for inspections by Company, Navy, and Government.
  7. Use freeze seals for piping repairs in operational mode.
  8. Work conditions may include confined and restricted spaces.

  • Hourly rates from $27.57 to $38.41
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED or 2+ years of relevant technical experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant pipefitting or mechanical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of vocational, technical, or community college programs or apprenticeships.
  • Experience in military shipbuilding, manufacturing, or shipyards.
  • Successful completion of the CT Department of Labor EWIB Training Program.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and procedures.
  • Willingness to work all shifts, in various environments, including radiological areas.
  • Acceptance of road assignments and ability to maintain nuclear qualifications.
  • Own basic hand tools.
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

Climbing, color vision, crawling, kneeling, lifting (light to medium), pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, twisting. Exposure to cold, fumes, heat, noise, oily conditions, outside elements, and wet environments.
