Overview
Electric Boat is the premier designer and builder of nuclear-powered submarines for the US Navy. We are currently experiencing a period of unprecedented growth and are seeking individuals eager to learn and grow within our Pipefitting Department as we continue to build the most advanced submarines.
Pipefitter Duties Include:
- Fabricating and installing piping systems for liquids and gases at various pressures.
- Installing standard, shock-mounted, and resilient hangers, ensuring compliance with written procedures for support and noise control.
- Applying measurement, fit-up, bending, and installation skills to meet tight tolerances.
- Performing welded, silver-brazed, or mechanically fastened joints during pipe fit-up.
- Working with a range of piping sizes, from small tubing to large diameter pipes.
- Maintaining systems such as hydraulic, lube oil, low-pressure air, steam, seawater, chilled water, and potable water.
- Preparing systems for inspections by Company, Navy, and Government.
- Using freeze seals for piping repairs in operational mode.
- Entering restricted and confined spaces as needed.

Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma/GED, current High School senior, or 2+ years of relevant technical experience.
- 0-5 years of experience in pipefitting, automotive, construction, or mechanical fields.
Preferred:
- Vocational, technical, or community college training or apprenticeship programs.
- Completion of the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative.
- Experience in shipbuilding, manufacturing, or automotive industries.
Skills
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and perform basic layout functions.
- Willingness to work all shifts and environments, including radiological areas.
- Acceptance of road assignments.
- Willingness to undergo and pass Nuclear Pipefitter training.
- Own tools are required.
Physical Qualifications

Exposure to acids or alkalis, cold, dry, dusty, fumes, hot, noise, oily conditions, outside environments.
