Job summary

Wood Group is seeking a skilled welder to lay out, assemble and weld piping systems, plate, pipe and tube, and structural shapes.

You will select type and size of pipe or other materials per specifications, plan layouts, and apply welding techniques, including arc welding. The job involves positioning components, tack welding, and connecting welding unit cables to achieve proper amperage and electrode handling.

Qualifications

• Selects type and size of pipe or other related materials according to specifications.
• Plans layouts, assembly, and welding, applying geometry and metal properties knowledge.
• Welding shrinkage and welding techniques are considered in work.
• May use GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW or SMAW welding processes.
• Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components in various body positions.
• Bolts, clamps and welds metal components using arc welding equipment; may weld in multiple positions.
• Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope and pulse as specified.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe or other related materials according to specifications.
• Plans layouts, assembly, and welding, applying geometry and metal properties knowledge.
• May perform welding with GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW, or SMAW processes as required.
• Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together in various body positions.
• Welds and bolts components; may weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Connects welding unit cables to obtain amperage, voltage, slope and pulse as specified.
