Job summary

WOOD plc is seeking an experienced welder/fabricator to select pipe sizes and materials per specifications, plan layouts, and perform assemblies welded with various arc welding processes. The role involves precise fitting of components and welding in multiple positions to build piping systems and structural assemblies.

Candidates should be comfortable with GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SMAW, and SAW as required, and able to prepare joints, align parts, and complete welds meeting procedure specs.

Qualifications

• Experience selecting pipe sizes and types per specifications.
• Ability to plan layouts, assembly, and welding per drawings and procedures.
• Familiarity with multiple welding processes (MIG, TIG, SMAW, FCAW, SAW).

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe or related materials according to specifications.
• Plans layouts, assembly, and welding, using knowledge of geometry and metal properties.
• May use GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SMAW, SAW welding processes as required.
• Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components in various body positions.
• Joins parts by bolts, clamps and welds using arc welding equipment in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Connects welding unit cables to obtain proper amperage, voltage, slope and pulse as specified.

Job description

• Selects type and size of pipe or other related materials and equipment according to specifications.
• Selects equipment and plans layouts, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage and welding techniques.
• May be required to use Gas-Metal Arc, Flux-Cored Arc, Gas-Tungsten Arc, Submerged Arc, or Shielded Metal Arc welding processes.
• Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together in various body positions.
• Bolts, clamps and welds together metal components of products such as piping systems, plate, pipe and tube or structural shapes, using arc and arc gas welding equipment. May weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead position. May tack weld assemblies together.
• Connects cable from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope and pulse as specified by procedure or supervisor.
• Obtains specified electrode and inserts electrode into portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through portable welding gun.
