Job summary

Wood is seeking a skilled welder in Pensacola, FL, to read specifications and select appropriate pipe sizes and materials. You will plan layouts, assemble and weld components using various welding processes, and fit parts in multiple orientations.

The role requires laying out and aligning components, bolting and welding piping systems, and connecting welding equipment per procedure. You will move between flat, vertical, and overhead positions and ensure quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to select appropriate welding processes and materials.
• Proficiency with reading and interpreting blueprints and layouts.
• Knowledge of geometry and metal properties relevant to welding.
• Commitment to safety standards and proper PPE usage.
• Experience with welding equipment setup and operation.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe or related materials per specifications.
• Plans layouts, assembly, and welding using geometry and material properties.
• May use GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SA, SMAW welding processes.
• Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components in various positions.
• Bolts, clamps, and welds metal components in piping systems, plates, pipes, tubes, or structural shapes.
• Connects welding unit cables to obtain amperage, voltage, slope and pulse as specified.
• Inserts electrodes and feeds consumable electrode wire during welding.
