Job summary

General Motors seeks a skilled Pipefitter who will work with minimal supervision on mechanical, hydraulic, and automation systems. You’ll read blueprints, operate CNC tools, and fabricate/repair piping to exact specifications.

The role requires 6+ years in a mechanical trade, passing GM assessments, and willingness to work flexible shifts including overtime. Safety and OSHA guidelines are emphasized.

Qualifications

• At least six (6) years of related experience in a Mechanical trade or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in a Mechanical trade.
• Must satisfactorily complete General Motors hiring process including comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check.
• At least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be willing to work flexible shift hours including overtime, weekends and holidays on short notice.
• GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.

Responsibilities

• Follow OSHA safety procedures and company policies.
• Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery.
• Layout, assemble, fabricate, and repair piping systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints for conveyors, robots, and automation.
• Operate mobile equipment and rig loads for lifting.
• Set up and operate CNC machine tools to meet dimensions and finishes.
• Plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools or assemblies.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances to ensure defect-free parts using calipers and micrometers.
