Job summary

Polk Mechanical Company in Houston, TX is seeking a Pipefitter Journeyman to install, assemble, maintain, and repair piping systems across commercial and industrial settings. The role demands strong technical expertise, independence, and a commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.

Candidates should have minimum 4 years of experience in commercial pipefitting or HVAC/mechanical systems, plus completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in commercial pipefitting or HVAC/mechanical systems.
• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent field experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong understanding of piping codes and installation standards.

Responsibilities

• Select appropriate pipe types and sizes based on job specifications.
• Inspect worksites to identify obstructions and ensure structural integrity.
• Plan installation sequences to avoid conflicts with other trades.
• Assemble and install metal and non-metal piping systems, including brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic.
• Join piping using threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
• Secure piping systems using clamps, brackets, and hangers.
• Install and maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, meters, and controls.
• Test piping systems for leaks using pressure gauges and diagnostic tools.
• Perform welding as required for system installation.
