Overview
Polk Mechanical is seeking a Pipefitter Journeyman responsible for the installation, assembly, maintenance, and repair of piping systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems according to specifications and codes
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents
- Measure, cut, thread, and fit pipe using appropriate tools and techniques
- Perform pressure testing, inspections, and system adjustments
- Troubleshoot piping issues and determine required repairs or modifications
- Coordinate with supervisors, foremen, and other trades on job sites
- Ensure work meets quality standards and project specifications
- Support project schedules and meet production timelines
- Assist with layout and planning of piping systems as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience in commercial pipefitting or HVAC/mechanical systems
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent field experience
- Valid driver's license and OSHA 10 required
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
- Skilled in cutting, bending, welding, and assembling piping systems
- Strong understanding of piping codes and installation standards
- Ability to visualize three-dimensional layouts from plans and specifications
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in awkward positions
- Manual dexterity to safely operate hand and power tools
