Job summary

Freedom Industries, Inc. in Rocky Mount, NC is seeking a Pipefitter to install and maintain industrial piping systems for commercial and industrial projects.

You will read drawings and specifications to safely install piping supporting mechanical, process, and utility services. The role requires accuracy, teamwork, and strong safety adherence; candidates should have a HS diploma or GED and prior pipefitting experience in industrial construction.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior experience as a pipefitter in industrial construction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction drawings, isometrics, and specifications.
• Measure, cut, fit, and assemble pipe using approved tools.
• Install piping systems for process, mechanical, and utility services.
• Align and secure piping using clamps, supports, and hangers.
• Prepare pipe for welding or mechanical connections.
• Coordinate work with welders, helpers, foremen, and other trades.
• Follow all site safety rules, company policies, and job-specific procedures.

Position Summary

The Pipefitter is responsible for installing, aligning, assembling, and maintaining industrial piping systems used in commercial and industrial construction projects. This role works from drawings and specifications to safely install piping systems that support mechanical, process, and industrial operations.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of pipe materials, fittings, and installation practices
• Ability to read and work from construction drawings and layouts
• Proficient in measuring, leveling, and fitting pipe accurately
• Knowledge of industrial safety practices and jobsite hazards
• Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
• Good communication and teamwork skills

Experience/Education/Other

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Prior experience as a pipefitter in industrial construction preferred

• Read and interpret construction drawings, isometrics, and specifications
• Measure, cut, fit, and assemble pipe using approved tools and methods
• Install piping systems for process, mechanical, and utility services
• Align and secure piping using clamps, supports, and hangers
• Prepare pipe for welding or mechanical connections
• Assist with pressure testing and system inspections as required
• Operate hand tools, power tools, hoists, and rigging equipment safely
• Follow all site safety rules, company policies, and job‑specific procedures
• Coordinate work with welders, helpers, foremen, and other trades
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Ability to lift, carry, and move tools and materials weighing up to 50lbs
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and work in confined spaces, on unlevel surfaces, and of varying heights and distances as required
• Ability to work in varying weather and industrial environments
• Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and outdoor conditions
• Standing and walking on both level and uneven surfaces
