- Pipe handling: Loading, unloading and transporting pipes to the trench.
- Pipe alignment and installation: Positioning pipes accurately within the trench, ensuring proper alignment and grade.
- Joint sealing: Sealing pipe joints using appropriate methods like cement, glue, welding, or couplings depending on the pipe material.
- Backfilling and finishing: Covering the installed pipes with soil and compacting it to provide proper support.
- Operating machinery: Operating heavy equipment like excavators, backhoes and trenchers to dig trenches and assist with pipe installation.
- Quality control: Inspecting pipes for damage, ensuring proper installation and adhering to safety regulations.
- Travel: Willing to travel in the State of Kansas.
- Driver's License: Valid Driver's License required.
- Paperwork: Complete and turn in required paperwork.
- Safety: Abide by company safety rules and wear proper PPE while on jobsite and in the yard:
- Safety-toed work boots, safety vest, work gloves and hard hat.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Physical strength and stamina: Ability to perform manual labor in outdoor conditions including lifting and carrying heavy pipes.
- Construction knowledge: Understanding trenching techniques, pipe materials, and proper joint sealing methods.
- Basic math skills: Ability to measure and calculate pipe lengths and angles.
- Hand-eye coordination: Precisely aligning and positioning pipes within the trench.
- Problem-solving abilities: Addressing unexpected challenges during installation.
- Safety awareness: Following safety procedures related to trenching, excavation and working with heavy machinery.
- Tool proficiency: Proficiency in using electrical tools and equipment.
- Time management: Time management and organizational skills.
- Communication skills: Communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Learning: Ability to continuously learn about trends in the electrical industry.
- Supervision: Perform with minimum supervision.
- Physical work: Perform heavy physical work, often under adverse weather conditions.
WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background checks.
- Provide valid documentation for I-9 documents (DL, Social Security Card or Birth Certificate).
- Report to work at designated start time.
- Willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA.
- Must have a valid Driver's License.
- Properly follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
