Job summary

Optimized Process Designs, LLC (OPD) seeks a Pipefitter Helper to support on a Galena Park, TX project site. You will assist with setting, assembling and installing pipe, while keeping work areas safe, organized and compliant with client policies.

Candidates should have at least 6 months in an industrial environment and familiarity with different metals, fittings, bolts and valves. Reliable attendance is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months prior experience in an industrial environment.
  • Past exposure to different metals and knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc.

Pipefitter Helper

Location: Galena Park, TX.

About the Role

Optimized Process Designs, LLC (OPD) is an engineering/construction company headquartered in Katy, TX. We are seeking a Pipefitter Helper to work on a project site in Galena Park, TX.

Responsibilities
  • Assist pipefitter with setting, assembling, and installing pipe.
  • Show knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc., as required.
  • Prepare pipe and fittings for hoisting and rigging.
  • Be familiar with different types of metals.
  • Locate and mark bending and cutting lines of the metal.
  • Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
  • Operate tools and equipment including: beveling machines, cut‑off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, and a Saw‑Zall.
  • Work safely and accurately.
  • Actively participate in a strong safety culture.
  • Recognize safety hazards and risks.
  • Participate in onsite safety meetings.
  • Follow OPD and client safety policies and procedures.
  • Be aware of changing conditions on an active jobsite.
  • Be on time and ready for work each day.
  • Display a positive attitude and work in a team environment.
  • Maintain high attention to detail to avoid reworks and errors.
Physical Demands
  • Capable of working in outdoor weather and environmental conditions including extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, and high elevations.
  • Lifting and carrying objects up to 60 lb.
  • Standing for extended periods of up to 12 hours per day.
  • Moving the entire body; considerable use of arms, legs; climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending regularly.
  • Work on elevated platforms and maintain balance on narrow platforms such as beams and pipes while wearing a full‑body harness and lanyard.
  • Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and/or tools.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 months previous experience in an industrial environment.
  • Past exposure to different metals and knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc.
Other Job Requirements
  • Travel required; extended periods away from home in remote areas.
  • Willing and able to work shifts up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job.
  • Willing and able to attend mandatory safety meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ months working as a pipefitter helper.
  • Experience reading ISO specifications and drawings.
  • Experience in a gas plant construction environment.
  • Past exposure to different metals and knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc.
