Job summary

Piedmont Service Group in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Pipefitter Apprentice to learn hands-on piping installation under the guidance of experienced pipefitters. You will assist with layout, fabrication, and assembly per blueprints, and you’ll help keep job sites clean, organized, and safe while gaining essential trade skills.

You’ll train in cutting, threading, and fitting pipes, transporting materials, recording work details, and adhering to all safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in construction or a related field preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn and gain experience in pipefitting is essential
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist pipefitters with layout, assembly, and installation of piping systems according to specifications and blueprints
• Transport and organize materials, tools, and equipment to and from the job site
• Prepare work areas by cleaning and organizing spaces, removing debris, and ensuring a safe working environment
• Perform basic pipefitting tasks under supervision, including cutting, threading, and assembling pipes
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures, wearing appropriate PPE and participating in safety meetings
• Clean, maintain, and store tools and equipment properly to ensure they are in good working condition
• Assist in maintaining accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered during the project

Job Summary

The Pipefitter Apprentice assists experienced pipefitters with the layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of piping systems in accordance with project specifications and blueprints. This role supports daily job site operations by preparing work areas, organizing materials and equipment, and performing basic pipefitting tasks under supervision. The apprentice is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment, following all safety procedures, properly maintaining tools and equipment, and assisting with project documentation. This position provides hands-on training and practical experience to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a career in pipefitting.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist pipefitters with the layout, assembly, and installation of piping systems according to specifications and blueprints

• Prepare work areas by cleaning and organizing spaces, removing debris, and ensuring a safe working environment
• Perform basic pipefitting tasks under the supervision of experienced pipefitters, including cutting, threading, and assembling pipes
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and participating in safety meetings
• Clean, maintain, and store tools and equipment properly to ensure they are in good working condition
• Assist in maintaining accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered during the project

Requirements

Education Requirements/Qualifications

• Previous experience in construction or a related field is preferred but not required. Willingness to learn and gain experience in pipefitting is essential

Job Requirements/ Special Skills

• Basic understanding of construction practices and safety procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment.
• Knowledge of various pipefitting techniques and tools.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Strong physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects
• Ability to work in conditions of varying heat and cold where noise levels are at or above 90 decibels
