Job summary

Hill York seeks an experienced Pipefitter to lay out, fabricate, install, weld, and maintain piping systems for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, and industrial processing in commercial projects.

Applicants must read blueprints, perform SMA/GMAW/GTAW welding, and work with various pipes (steel, copper, HDPE, PVC). Emphasis on safety, quality, and teamwork on retrofit and new construction sites.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Layout, fit, assemble, and install piping systems according to plans.
  • Cut, thread, and bend pipe with hand/power tools and machines.
  • Assemble and install metal and nonmetal pipes (steel, copper, HDPE, PVC).
  • Connect pipes via welding, threading, grooved fittings, soldering, brazing, fusion.
  • Secure pipes to structures with brackets, clamps, anchors.
  • Perform welding (SMA, GMAW, GTAW) in multiple positions.
  • Operate grinders to prepare materials and ensure clean joints.
  • Inspect work for compliance with specs and codes.
  • Follow installation plans and coordinate with team to meet timelines and quality.

Job Summary

Hill York seeks an experienced Pipefitter to lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, weld, and maintain piping systems and related equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, and industrial processing systems. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency in both new construction and retrofit environments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Layout, fit, assemble, and install a variety of piping systems according to blueprints, specifications, and job plans.
  • Cut, thread, and bend pipe using hand tools, power tools, and machines such as saws, pipe cutters, threading machines, and pipe benders.
  • Assemble and install variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including steel, copper, HDPE, and PVC.
  • Connect pipes using various methods such as welding, threading, grooved fittings, soldering, brazing, and fusion.
  • Secure pipes to structures using brackets, clamps, hangers, pipe stand, and anchors.
  • Perform welding tasks using SMA (Stick), GMAW (MIG). Or GTAW (TIG) in multiple positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead), selecting appropriate methods and tools based on project requirements.
  • Operate grinders and other tools to prepare materials for welding and ensure clean, accurate joints.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and best practices.
  • Follow detailed installation plans and collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet project timelines and quality standards.
  • Conduct pre-task planning and job hazard analysis before beginning work to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations, maintaining a clean and hazard-free work environment.
  • Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to supervisors and participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Complete any required documentation and paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, external customers, and subcontractors to coordinate work, resolve issues, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Operate and maintain company vehicles in compliance with safety regulations when transporting tools, materials, or traveling to job sites.
Qualifications
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, and construction documents.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, twist, climb ladders, and maintain balance while working at heights.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders safely and frequently.Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces, elevated areas, and outdoor conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated high mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to operate machinery and equipment such as forklifts, Lull, scissor lifts, and other material handling or aerial lift equipment safely and in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
  • Welding certificate is a plus but not required.
