Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for an Industrial Pipe Fitter that will assemble, layout, install and maintain pipe systems. Please note this is a full-time position with full benefits and not a contract or short-term assignment.

Typical Duties:

  1. Read blueprints and specification to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and material specs.
  2. Selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment according to specifications.
  3. Cuts, threads, bends and assembles the pipes.
  4. Prepare, cut, fabricate, layout, fit, position, and assemble piping components together in various positions.
  5. Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.
  6. Install hangers, supports, valves and components according to piping system plans and specifications.
  7. Perform leak tests to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems.
  8. Proper identification and use of tools required for tasks (grinders, drills, beveling machine, etc.).
  9. Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
  10. Maintain safe and clean work environment.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance experience.
  2. Must be proficient installing copper.
  3. Ability to read prints and construction drawings.
  4. Must understand how to read and interpret ISO’s, blueprints, technical manuals and instructions to determine work procedures.
  5. Must have 4+ years’ experience with pipe fitting processes.
  6. Ability to take detailed instruction.
  7. Positive “can do” attitude, strong work ethic and a team player.
  8. Good problem-solving abilities, communication skills, aptitude and manual dexterity.
  9. Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  10. Must be able to read & understand weld symbols, weld procedures, mechanical and structural drawings.
  11. Ability to use Oxy/fuel & Plasma hand cutting torch.
  12. Daily housekeeping of shop and/or work area.
  13. Flexible working schedule to support project needs.
  14. Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safe work practices.

Considered a Plus:

  1. Pipe fitting experience with ASME B31.3, B31.4 and API 1104 codes.
  2. Welding and/or tacking experience using GTAW process.
  3. Fit-up & layout experience on structural/misc. steel.
  4. Familiarity with weld inspections, inspection documentation.
  5. NCCER Certification as an Industrial Pipe Fitter.
  6. Formal/technical education.
