Job summary

Chipton-Ross is seeking multiple Pipefitters for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA. The role requires 3+ years as a First Class Pipefitter in marine, commercial nuclear, or petro/chem sectors and the ability to read ship piping drawings.

Qualified candidates will fit carbon steel, CRES, and copper-nickel piping, perform hand or machine prep, install pipe hangers, and fabricate from drawings. PPE and hand tools experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years as a marine, commercial nuclear, or petro/chem First Class Pipefitter.
• Able to read and interpret ship piping drawings.
• Experience fitting carbon steel, CRES, and copper nickel piping.
• Able to end prep piping by hand and/or with Wach or Portsmouth Machine.
• Knowledge in installing pipe hangers.
• Able to read a ruler using inches and tenths.
• Able to prep and fit-up backing rings.
• Able to clean cut/break pipe with a grinder.
• Ability to hand prep V bevels.
• Experience in fabrication from drawings.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

• Three or more years as a marine, commercial nuclear, or petro/chem First Class Pipefitter.
• Able to read and interpret ship piping drawings.
• Experienced fitting carbon steel, CRES, and copper nickel piping.
• Ability to end prep piping by hand and/or with Wach or Portsmouth Machine.
• Knowledge in installing pipe hangers.
• Ability to read a ruler using inches and tenths.
• Ability to prep and fit-up backing rings.
• Ability to clean cut/break pipe with a grinder.
• Ability to hand prep V bevels.
• Experience in fabrication of various details and assemblies from drawings.
• Ability to bend pipe from template and in the use of a hand bender.
• Ability to fit welded sockets.
• Ability to fit brazed joints with/without insert ring.
• PPE training means general requirements, eye and face protection, head protection, foot protection, hand and body protection, hearing protection, and body harness-personal fall arrest systems (PFAS) and position device systems.
