Job summary

Hutco, Inc. is seeking experienced Pipefitters with three or more years of experience in the marine, commercial nuclear, or petrochemical industry. Pipefitters will fit carbon steel, CRES, and copper-nickel piping in demanding environments such as shipboard and sub-assemblies.

Reading piping drawings, fitting various piping materials, end prep, pipe hangers, and precise measurement are required. Per diem is available for qualifying candidates; hotel loan may be provided during onboarding.

Qualifications

• Piping drawings: read and interpret ship piping drawings.
• Piping materials: experience with carbon steel, CRES and copper-nickel piping.
• End prep: hand or machine prep of piping.
• Pipe hangers: knowledge of installing hangers.
• Ruler use: precise measurements in inches and tenths.
• Backing rings: prep and fit-up backing rings.
• Pipe cutting: clean cutting or breaking with grinder.
• Bevels: hand prep V-bevels.
• Fabrication: fabricate details and assemblies from drawings.
• Pipe bending: bending using templates and hand benders.
• Socket fittings: fit welded sockets.
• Brazing: fit brazed joints with or without insert rings.

Responsibilities

• Fit carbon steel, CRES, and copper-nickel piping in shipboard and sub-assemblies.
• Read and interpret piping drawings to ensure proper fabrication.
• Install pipe hangers and prepare piping components per drawings.

Job Location: Newport News, VA
Shift: Variable, 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM, Sunday - Saturday
Rate of Pay: $45.00per hour (Per diem available for those who qualify)

DESCRIPTION:

Hutco, Inc. is seeking experienced Pipefitters with three or more years of experience in the marine, commercial nuclear, or petrochemical industry. Pipefitters will be responsible for fitting carbon steel, CRES, and copper-nickel piping in demanding environments such as shipboard and sub-assemblies.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

• Piping Drawings : Ability to read and interpret ship piping drawings.
• Piping Materials : Experience fitting carbon steel, CRES, and copper-nickel piping.
• End Prep : Ability to end prep piping by hand and/or using Wach or Portsmouth machines.
• Pipe Hangers : Knowledge of installing pipe hangers.
• Ruler Use : Proficient in using a ruler for measurements in inches and tenths.
• Backing Rings : Ability to prep and fit-up backing rings.
• Pipe Cutting : Skilled in clean cutting or breaking pipe with a grinder.
• Bevels : Ability to hand prep V-bevels.
• Fabrication : Experience fabricating various details and assemblies from drawings.
• Pipe Bending : Skilled in pipe bending using templates and hand benders.
• Socket Fittings : Ability to fit welded sockets.
• Brazing : Ability to fit brazed joints with or without insert rings.
