Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. is seeking Pipe Fitters for Newport News Shipbuilding to install complex piping aboard ships and in the shop.
You will read blueprints, fabricate, install, inspect and test piping systems, including extensive mileage on submarines and carriers. Qualifications include at least 1 year of pipe fitter experience, ability to work at heights or in confined spaces, lift 40 lbs, pass a respirator fit test, and work year‑round in all weather.

Salary Range: $74,297.60 to $85,196.80
The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job‑related factors, and may vary from the posted range.
Pipe Fitters are responsible for installing complex piping systems aboard ships and in the shop: installing over 23 miles of pipe on a submarine and over 230 miles on a carrier. Duties include reading blueprints, fabricating, installing, inspecting, and testing piping systems onboard a ship. New hires attend a Fundamentals of Piping Fitting class and receive ongoing training to enhance knowledge.
Must be able to work at extreme heights or in small confined spaces.
Must be able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs and pass a respirator fit test.
Must be able to work indoors/outdoors year‑round in all weather conditions.
Must be able to work assigned shift as production needs.
Must be able to pass Physical Agility Test.
Qualified candidates must have at least 1 year of previous Pipe Fitter experience.
Nice to Have: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
