Job summary

CCI Industrial Services LLC seeks a Pipefitter to layout, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems and supports to assist welders. You will contribute to safety leadership and ensure compliance with project specs while working at diverse industrial sites.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, 5 years of experience, and safety cards such as OSHA/Basic Plus and TWIC. Pre-employment checks and physicals are required.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Pipefitter is responsible for laying out, assembling, installing and maintaining pipe systems, pipe supports and related equipment to assist welders in preparation of piping and pipeline systems and industrial piping.

This position will be responsible for driving CCI's Mission, Vision, and Values, a crucial part of the strategic plan to drive success. CCI Industrial Services leads the industry in Safety, Innovation, and Excellence.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Ensure a safe work environment.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems, pipe supports, and related equipment to assist welders in preparation of piping and pipeline systems and industrial processing piping by performing the following duties.
  • Selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
  • Inspects work site to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain those holes cut for pipe will not cause structural weakness.
  • Plans installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers.
  • Cuts, bevels, threads, and bends pipe using cutting torches, saws, threading machines and pipe cutting machines.
  • Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, and copper.
  • Connects pipes, using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cement joints.
  • Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers.
  • Observes production machines in assigned area of manufacturing facility to detect machinery malfunctions.
  • Operates machinery to verify repair.
  • Reports and reporting duties as required.

  • Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh weather conditions, remote locations, and diverse personalities.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to do take offs for project estimating purposes.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Skilled in organization and detail oriented.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication that includes good listening, providing clear direction and effective feedback.
  • Ability to speak, write, read, and interpret the English language.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction site. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Position may be working with potentially hazardous materials and waste.

The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles in a mechanical shop environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hard-toe safety footwear, hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves are required while working.

A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee’s ability to perform to the job standard.   • MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 50 feet. Frequent walking and standing. Occasional keyboard use, sitting, bending, twisting, and reaching.
  • HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
  • VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
  • LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift 50 pounds from floor to waist, 30 pounds from waist level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.

RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
