Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) in International Falls, MN, seeks a Pipefitter to support the paper mill with piping installation, repair, and maintenance to sustain production.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or GED and can obtain a Minnesota High Pressure Piping License within four years; must pass physical and drug screenings and have a valid driver’s license. Competitive benefits are provided.

Responsibilities

• Support paper manufacturing operations to increase productivity and reduce downtime.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, steam, water, and heating systems.
• Install, repair, and maintain piping, valves, gaskets, and steam traps.
• Read drawings, lay out, cut/join, and fit pipe tubing.
• Fabricate pipe saddles, reducers, and offsets; prepare pipe patterns.
• Maintain condensate systems; rigging and crane operation.
• Install, repair, replace, maintain, and modify piping systems including gas, oxygen, chemicals, and process lines.
• Perform ARC and TIG welding.

We are seeking applicants for a Pipefitter in our International Falls, MN Paper Mill. The International Falls facility is a White Paper Mill owned by Packaging Corporation of America.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team in support of a paper manufacturing operation with a goal of increasing productivity; decreasing downtime and waste.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic systems including steam, water, and heating systems.
• Responsible for the installation and repairing of expansion joints, valves, gaskets, and steam traps.
• Read drawings, complete layouts, cut/join and fit pipe tubing.
• Ability to make pipe patterns for saddles, reducers, and offsets along with pipe fabrication.
• Maintain condensate systems.
• Install, repair, replace, maintain, and modify piping systems.
• Install, repair, replace, maintain, and modify natural gas, oxygen, gas (including chlorine), chemical, and process lines.
• Install, repair, replace, maintain, and modify non-condensable lines.
• Perform ARC welding and TIG welding.
• Perform proper rigging and use of mobile cranes, lift conveyors, and hoists.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain a Minnesota High Pressure Piping License within 4 years.
• Ability to sit, stoop, and bend.
• Ability to work from heights.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug test.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must have a current valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a paper or other manufacturing environment.
• Completion of a formal pipefitter apprenticeship or currently enrolled in one or equivalent experience and training.
• Preference given for applicants with a MN state plumbing license.

• Must be willing to work closely on a day-to-day basis with other production personnel.
• Ability to share ideas with others to solve problems of essential importance.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly salary range for position: $32.61 (76% Apprentice) to $57.88
• Paid Vacation.
• Paid Holidays.
