Job summary

Core Group Resources is seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join our shipbuilding team in Houston. You will install, repair, and maintain piping systems aboard ships, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

This role involves welding, threading, and fitting pipes across plumbing, fuel, ballast, and HVAC systems. Ideal candidates have proven pipefitting experience in marine environments, strong blueprint-reading ability, and familiarity with OSHA and maritime safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Pipefitter in shipbuilding, marine, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints, piping diagrams, and technical specs for maritime applications.
  • Proficiency in welding, threading, cutting, and fitting pipes using industry-standard tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and maritime safety practices and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and piping specifications for shipbuilding projects.
  • Install, assemble, and fit pipe systems for ship sections, including plumbing, fuel, ballast, and HVAC piping.
  • Weld, cut, thread, and fit pipes accurately, adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.
  • Inspect piping systems for leaks, alignment, and integrity, troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with shipyard engineers, welders, and other trades to coordinate installation activities.
  • Follow safety guidelines, ensuring OSHA and maritime safety compliance.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, keeping them in proper working condition.
  • Document work processes and report progress to supervisors.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairs during ship maintenance or retrofitting projects.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join our shipbuilding team, where precision and craftsmanship are paramount. Your expertise will directly contribute to building reliable, efficient vessels that meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities


  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and piping specifications specific to shipbuilding projects.

  • Install, assemble, and fit pipe systems for various ship sections, including plumbing, fuel, ballast, and HVAC piping.

  • Weld, cut, thread, and fit pipes accurately, adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.

  • Inspect piping systems for leaks, alignment, and integrity, troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly.

  • Collaborate with shipyard engineers, welders, and other trades to coordinate installation activities.

  • Follow safety guidelines strictly, ensuring compliance with OSHA and maritime safety regulations.

  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in proper working condition.

  • Document work processes and report progress and issues to supervisors regularly.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairs during ship maintenance or retrofitting projects.


Requirements


  • Proven experience as a Pipefitter, preferably in shipbuilding, marine, or heavy industrial environments.

  • Ability to read complex blueprints, piping diagrams, and technical specifications specific to maritime applications.

  • Proficiency in welding, threading, cutting, and fitting pipes using industry-standard tools and techniques.

  • Knowledge of shipbuilding safety standards, OSHA regulations, and maritime safety practices.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in variable weather conditions common in shipyards.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Relevant certifications such as AWS welding certification, pipefitting licenses, or maritime safety training are preferred.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship certificates are a plus.
