Job summary

Catapult Federal Services is seeking experienced pipefitters for on-site work in Burleson, Texas. You will safely fit carbon steel and stainless steel piping, measure, lay out, cut, bevel, and prepare pipe to keep the welding crew supplied and productive.

You will read drawings and specifications, lead a helper, and ensure quality and safety on a fast-paced project. The ideal candidate has at least two years of pipefitting experience, strong layout skills, and a team-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Measure, lay out, cut, bevel, fit, and prepare piping for welding.
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, measurements, and job requirements.

  • Maintain enough prepared work to keep two to three welders productive.
  • Direct and keep a helper consistently engaged in preparation and material-handling activities.
  • Coordinate with welders to ensure fittings and joints are aligned and ready for welding.

Job Description

We are seeking experienced Pipefitters to safely and accurately fit carbon steel and stainless steel piping systems while maintaining an efficient workflow for multiple welders and a helper. In this role, you'll measure, lay out, cut, bevel, and fit pipe to keep two to three welders continuously supplied with prepared work, while directing a helper through daily preparation and material‑handling tasks. This position plays a key role in keeping the crew's production on schedule, and success in the role depends on strong organizational skills, technical accuracy, and the ability to lead a small crew's daily workflow. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in a production-focused team setting and takes pride in precise, efficient pipefitting work.

Duties And Responsibilities

Required Experience/Skills
  • Minimum of two years of pipefitting experience
  • Demonstrated ability to fit piping accurately and efficiently
  • Experience working with carbon steel and stainless steel piping
  • Ability to read construction drawings, measurements, and pipefitting specifications
  • Ability to organize work and keep multiple welders supplied with prepared fittings
  • Ability to lead and coordinate the daily activities of a helper
  • Strong understanding of pipe measurements, offsets, angles, and alignment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a production-focused team
Nice-to-Haves
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring a helper or junior crew member
  • Experience on large-scale industrial or commercial piping projects
  • Familiarity with inspection hold point and QC procedures on process piping jobs
Education

No formal education requirement specified; relevant field experience and demonstrated skill will be prioritized.

Testing Requirements

Candidates must successfully complete a written pipefitting test. Candidates will be evaluated on experience, technical knowledge, accuracy, and overall test performance. Final employment offer and pay rate will be determined based on experience, demonstrated skill level, and test results.

Pay & Benefits Summary
  • Pay Range: $34–$38 per hour, based on experience and skill level
  • Primarily local work in the Burleson, Texas area
