Eastern Industrial Supplies, Inc. in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Pipe Yard Supervisor to lead the warehouse team responsible for receiving, staging, and shipping pipe, valves, and fittings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 4+ year of warehouse or forklift experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills; forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as crouching, kneeling, and balancing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team of Pipe Yard Associates, verify quantity, quality, labeling, and addressing of products ready for shipment.
• Hands-on supervision of pulling and verifying orders for shipment from warehouse inventory, including inter-company orders.
• Lead staging and preparation of orders for shipment, ensuring neat packaging and proper loading to carriers.
• Ensure pallets/ stacks are organized in a safe area and material is staged properly.
• Complete shipping paperwork in a timely manner and notify salespeople of material shortages.
• Count, weigh, measure, or examine packing and contents for conformance to specs.
• Cross-train team members from other departments.
• Audit packed items with customer orders and other identifying data.
• Wrap and identify skids and load onto correct trucks; assist with putting pipe and stock away; operate forklift safely.

About The Role

Pipe Yard Supervisor

Lead the team of Pipe Yard Associates, verify the quantity, quality, labeling, and addressing of products and items ready for shipment, as well as load trucks and receive product as needed.

Hands‑on supervision of pulling and verifying the accuracy of orders for shipment from warehouse inventory, including inter‑company orders.

Lead the team in staging and preparing orders for shipment, ensuring neat packaging along with separating material to shipping points, loading outgoing shipments, and shipping orders on common carriers.

Ensure organizing of pallets and stacks are in a safe area and all material has been staged properly.

Completing all shipping paperwork in a timely manner and  notifying salespeople of any material shortages.

Counting, weighing, measuring, or examining packing and contents for conformance to specifications.

Cross‑training team members from other departments.

Audit of packed items with customer orders and other identifying data.

Ensuring all material pulled is from the location indicated by the gun. Wrapping and identifying skids, and loading them onto the correct truck. Assisting with putting both pipe and stock away as needed.

Expert forklift (outside and inside) operator.

What We’re Looking For

• Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED required; 4+ year of warehouse or forklift experience preferred. Previous Lead or Supervisor experience preferred.
• Skills & Certifications: Basic computer skills; forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks like crouching, kneeling, and balancing.

You must be able to pass a drug test and background check before starting.
