Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton is seeking a Pipe Welding Instructor to train and qualify welding students as part of the Weld School. This role reports to the Supervisor of the Weld School and emphasizes safety, procedure compliance, and clear communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 5 years of pipe welding experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Instructing classroom courses related to trade work such as Workmanship, Back to Basics and New Hire INDOC.
• GTAW Pipe welding
• Directing and assessing hands-on training with practice and tests
• Enforcing safety rules and regulations
• Assessing student performance and identifying non-conformanceto policies, procedures and technical documents
• Supporting course curriculum reviews and related activities
• Conducting assessments as required
• Consistently and accurately grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and record keeping
• Communicate with other Training shifts to advance work and communicate issues
• Support special training projects as required
• Support the Training department in achieving goals and other responsibilities as assigned
• Available for overtime as needed
