Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat seeks an Engineer Sr- Welding to support welding and NDT activities at the Groton shipyard. On-site collaboration with NAVSEA projects, development and qualification of weld procedures, and ongoing supplier oversight are key responsibilities.

The role requires a BS in engineering with 5+ years of related experience; preferred candidates will have materials/welding specialization and shipyard or defense experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering.
• 5+ years of post graduate related engineering experience.
• Degree in Materials Science or Welding Engineering (preferred).
• Three+ years engineering experience in aerospace, defense, heavy fabrication or shipbuilding.
• Ability to read and understand specifications, military specs and drawings.
• Experience with arc welding and fundamentals of welding metallurgy.
• Experience with development and qualification of weld procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site support to supplier developing NAVSEA welding program.
• Assist in qualifying new welding procedures.
• Review and approve supplier welding procedures.
• Advise on quality procedures for welding programs.
• Oversee supplier weld program performance.
• Provide technical guidance for construction support and corrective actions.
• Maintain welding standards, procedures, and process improvements.
