Job summary

City and County of San Francisco seeks a Class 7360 Pipe Welder for work at the Millbrae Yard on a Monday–Friday schedule. The role involves welding on pressure vessels and pipelines, repairs of water distribution infrastructure, and fabricating pipe specials for pump and valve systems.

Applicants must have five years of welding experience with oxyacetylene and electric arc methods, plus a valid Class C driver’s license. Pipe welding certification is desirable.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years experience as a welder using oxyacetylene and electric arc welding methods
• Substitution: One (1) year of training from a recognized trade school or union welding program may substitute for one (1) year of experience
• Desirable: Pipe welding certification

Responsibilities

• Operates all types of welding and metal working machinery necessary to repair and maintain pipelines, pumping stations and water treatment equipment.
• Lays out pipe and constructs pipe specials including offsets, bends, sleeves, reducers, tanks and meter batteries.
• Performs repairs by welding methods on valves, tools, leak pumps, construction and storage equipment.
• Performs cuts, fits and welds pipes; repairs leaks and makes templates.
• Keeps emergency repair items in stock and constructs common vault components.
