Job summary

Chart, Inc. in Theodore, Alabama is seeking experienced Pipe Welders to weld piping and structural components using GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and SAW per drawings and specs. You will read blueprints, set up machines, and ensure quality through testing and inspections.

The role requires a pipe welding certification, high school diploma, 2+ years of experience, the ability to lift heavy objects, and willingness to work overtime including weekends. Shift is Fri-Sun 5:00 AM–5:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Pipe welding certification.
• Ability to perform welding on various materials at required positions using different welding processes, including GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and SAW.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of related experience.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
• Proven ability to identify and solve basic to moderate level problems.
• Overtime and weekend hours, as needed.
• Experience using blueprints and design sketches.
• Certification in Pipe welding.

Responsibilities

• Welding on various materials at required positions using different welding processes to create piping as designed.
• Pipe work as needed; supervisor assigns tasks based on shop needs.
• Install, calibrate, and operate production machines per job specs.
• Test and inspect machines for safe, efficient operation and perform routine maintenance.
• Read blueprints and specs to determine setup, methods, and sequence of operation.
• Check items produced pass quality control tests.
• Lay out, position, fit, and weld piping and components per drawings.
• Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines; adjust valves and flames.
• Operate tools like gouger, grinder; participate in safety processes and document work.
• Maintain clean work area and adhere to ISO standards.
