Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. in New Freedom, PA is seeking a Pipe Welder/Fitter for 1st shift to fabricate, assemble, and weld complex piping and pressure vessels.

You will read isometrics and welding symbols, perform layout, fit-up, and final welding to meet stringent customer and code requirements. The role requires 4+ years of welding and fabrication experience, ability to pass demanding weld tests (GTAW and SMAW), and proficiency in pipe fitting, blueprints, and fabrication equipment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of welding and fabrication experience.
• Pass weld tests: GTAW Root / SMAW Fill & Cap on 2” Schedule 160 Carbon Steel (6G) and SMAW Root / SMAW Fill & Cap on 6” Schedule 40 Carbon Steel (6G).
• Proficiency in pipe fitting, blueprint reading, and fabrication equipment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Knowledge of shop mathematics, welding codes, and specifications.
• Certified in required code welding qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and weld complex piping and pressure vessel components.
• Work from isometric drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and flow diagrams.
• Perform layout, fit-up, tack welding, and final welding to meet customer and code requirements.
• Use a variety of tools and equipment including scales, levels, torches, and welding machines.
• Conduct pressure testing and repairs on prototype and customer units.
• Support facility equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
