Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation in Saint Paul Park, MN, is seeking a Pipe Welder with SMAW and GTAW experience. The role involves welding piping and structural components, passing a 2” XXH pipe test in 6G, and ensuring quality per QA/QC procedures. Reports to Maintenance Supervisor.

Responsibilities include fabrication, installation and hydro testing of piping spools, reading prints and P&IDs, and adhering to safety policies. Requires HS diploma, valid license, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Pass a 2” XXH pipe test in the 6G position using SMAW with RT profile for NDE.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Fabrication of new butt welded and socket welded piping spools from ½ to 24 in.
• Read prints, P&ID’s and ISO’s.
• Weld Carbon steel, Stainless steel and various alloys per piping specifications using GMAW and SMAW.
• Install and remove piping spools.
• Hydro test piping spools.
• Review work orders and inspect materials for compliance.
