Job summary

CTR Group is seeking several 1st Class Pipe Welders for a shipyard in the Pascagoula, MS area. Immediate openings and urgently hiring with a pay rate of $52 per hour plus $180 per diem for non-local candidates.

The Welder will perform GTAW (TIG) root passes and SMAW fill/cap on stainless steel and copper-nickel, often in a 24-hour shipyard environment with day or night shifts and safety as the priority. Rigors include passing military-like welding tests and tests on restricted positions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of pipe welding experience.
• Experience with GTAW/TIG and SMAW welding.
• Ability to pass 6G X-ray welding test on stainless steel and copper-nickel.
• Ability to pass 3G/2G/4G welding assessments.
• Pipe welding test in 6G position on 5" schedule 80 pipe.

Responsibilities

• Perform pipe welding procedures on Stainless Steel and Copper-Nickel pipes.
• Work in shipyard environment with varying shifts and conditions.
• Operate GTAW (TIG) welding for root passes and fill/cap as specified.
• Maintain safety procedures and comply with industry standards.

SUMMARY

The Pipe Welder is responsible for performing pipe welding procedures on Stainless Steel and Copper-Nickel pipe using Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), also known as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding. Types of metal materials with a variety of welding processes; the most basic of which are, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) also known as "stick welding” and Flux-Core Arc Welding (FCAW) also known as “wire welding.”

The shipyard environment is an around the clock manufacturing setting. The shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day. As with most every position in the shipyard, a Welder may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. The Company stresses the practice of working safely in all situations with safety procedures meeting, and most times, exceeding industry standards.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 4 Yrs. of pipe welding experience
• Must have experience in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), also known as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) also known as "stick welding”
• Ability to pass military standard X-Ray welding test on stainless steel and copper nickel in the 6G position (restricted)
• Ability to pass a military specification welding assessment in the vertical (3G), horizontal (2G) and overhead (4G) positions
• Pipe welding test is given in a restricted position (6 G) on a 5'' schedule 80 carbon steel pipe
• GTAW (TIG) process used for root pass, 11018 electrode used for weld fill portion and cap
• Must be able to test onsite an able to pass BG & HFT
• Must pass military standard X-Ray welding test on stainless steel and copper nickel in the 6G position (restricted). The pipe welding test is given in a restricted position (6 G) on a 5'' schedule 80 carbon steel pipe GTAW (TIG) process used for root pass, 11018 electrodes used for weld fill portion and cap
