Job summary

TDIndustries is seeking a Construction Superintendent to lead and coordinate projects from new facilities to renovations, directing field teams and ensuring on-time delivery. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Construction-related field and 5–7 years of experience, with strong planning, safety, cost control, and QA/QC capabilities.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and quality standards.
• Proficient in reading blueprints, coordination drawings, submittals, and specifications.
• Ability to plan, manage budgets, and coordinate multi-team workloads.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in construction management.

Responsibilities

• Manages, coaches, and conducts performance conversations with direct reports.
• Sets work sequences and schedules using equipment, tool capacities, and personnel.
• Verifies earned value and forecasts project completion percentages.
• Inspects ongoing and completed work for conformance to specifications.
• Conducts safety observations and eliminates hazards on site.
• Applies Lean principles (pull planning, look-ahead planning, value mapping) on projects.
• Prepares material takeoffs, estimates, and pricing for scope changes.
• Assists in resolving productivity issues and project interferences; communicates risks to management.
• Maintains liaison with Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering and others to support schedules.
• Conducts pre-job and planning meetings to align terms, schedules, and requirements.

Job description

Job Summary

Leads or coordinates construction projects such as developing a new facility; the addition, expansion or extension of an existing facility; or renovation/alterations to a facility in collaboration with project team, construction site and management. Typically responsible for multiple jobs, supervising one or more trade groups. Develops assignments, timetables and responsibilities for team members for the duration of the project. Organizes and directs construction personnel and ensures that materials and equipment resources are delivered on time.

Essential Duties

• Serves as a leader on projects and provides technical expertise to partners in order to adhere to all construction processes designed to complete projects safely and with a high standard of quality.
• Manages, coaches, and develops direct reports. Conducts timely, complete, and meaningful performance management conversations.
• Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedules utilizing knowledge of equipment/tools capacities and assigned personnel.
• Confirms earned value of work and accuracy of Forecasted Percent Completions.
• Inspects work in progress and completed work periodically to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Performs all required safety observations and eliminates construction and job site hazards as they are recognized to reduce safety incidents and their severity.
• Understands and practices Quality/LEAN principles (pull planning, six-week look ahead, value mapping, constraint logs, etc.).
• Ability to budget projects by estimating worker hour requirements to meet the needs of the construction schedule and project budget. Monitors schedules to ensure they match project schedules. Provides material takeoff, estimate and pricing for changes to work scope.
• Assists in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, required manpower, etc.). Advises senior level supervision and project management of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc. Assists in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
• Maintains liaison with other departments, (i.e., Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering, etc.) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
• Conducts pre-job and planning meetings to ensure all project team members understand contract terms and conditions, clauses, schedules or any unusual requirements of the project.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science, Building Science, Construction Management or related field is preferred.

Must possess all relevant licenses and certifications required for the position.

Construction Superintendent certification is preferred.

Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in construction management.

• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means, and methods.
• Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, coordination and/or BIM drawings, submittals, specifications, details, and job orders.
• Understanding of all facets of the construction process.
• Ability to plan and see the "big picture".
• Competent in conflict and crisis management.
• Leadership skills.
• Excellent time and project management skills.
