Job summary

The Shaw Group in Walker, LA is seeking a Materials Planner to coordinate and track materials for pipe spool fabrication. Responsibilities include interpreting drawings, generating accurate bills of materials, and ensuring timely requisitions to keep shop production on schedule.

You will collaborate with Project Management, Procurement, Engineering, and Shop Operations, perform detailed material takeoffs, manage ERP-based material control, and maintain precise BOMs using advanced Excel

Qualifications

• Ability to read piping isometrics or shop drawings and perform material takeoffs.
• Experience managing materials in an ERP system; JDE preferred.
• Strong Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables, with large data sets.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed material takeoffs from piping isometrics and translate into bills of material.
• Compare drawing requirements against materials; identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare material requisitions and track outstanding, delayed, and late materials.
• Prepare and maintain weekly material forecasts for assigned projects.
