Job summary

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring a Pipe Shop Welder in Zebulon, NC. The Pipe Shop Welder performs high-quality pipe welding in a fast-paced fabrication shop environment, working primarily with carbon steel and stainless steel pipe to support structural and mechanical construction projects.

The ideal candidate holds a current 6G or 1GR weld certification, demonstrates proficiency with MIG and/or TIG welding processes, and is capable of passing an on-site X-Ray weld test.

Qualifications

• Current 6G or 1GR weld certification is required.
• Experience performing pipe welding with MIG and/or TIG.
• Ability to pass an on-site X-ray weld test.

Responsibilities

• Perform pipe welding in a fabrication shop setting across a range of pipe sizes and configurations.
• Execute welds using MIG and/or TIG welding processes in accordance with project specs and quality standards.
• Work with approx. 70% carbon steel and 30% stainless steel pipe materials.
• Pass an on-site X-Ray weld test prior to or upon placement.
• Inspect welded joints to meet quality acceptance criteria and project requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area per site safety guidelines.
• Use and maintain PPE and hand tools throughout all work activities.

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Pipe Shop Welder in Zebulon, NC. The Pipe Shop Welder performs high-quality pipe welding in a fast-paced fabrication shop environment, working primarily with carbon steel and stainless steel pipe to support structural and mechanical construction projects. The ideal candidate holds a current 6G or 1GR weld certification, demonstrates proven proficiency with MIG and/or TIG welding processes, and is capable of passing an on-site X-Ray weld test. This is a contract-to-permanent opportunity based in Zebulon, NC, operating Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Job Type: Contract to Perm

Pay: $30 to $35 Per Hour BOE

Licenses/Certifications Required:

• 6G Weld Certification
• 1GR Weld Certification
• OSHA 10 (preferred)

Responsibilities:

• Perform pipe welding in a fabrication shop setting across a range of pipe sizes and configurations.
• Execute welds using MIG and/or TIG welding processes in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
• Work with approximately 70 percent carbon steel and 30 percent stainless steel pipe materials.
• Pass an on-site X-Ray weld test prior to or upon placement.
• Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality acceptance criteria and project requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with all site safety guidelines.
• Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment and personal hand tools throughout all work activities.

Qualifications:

• Must hold a current 6G weld certification or 1GR weld certification.
• Demonstrated experience performing pipe welding using MIG and/or TIG processes.
• Proven ability to weld carbon steel and stainless steel pipe to code-quality standards.
• Ability to successfully pass an on-site X-Ray weld test.
• Must supply standard personal hand tools and required PPE, including a welding helmet, jeans, and steel-toed boots at minimum.
• OSHA 10 certification is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, and work in various body positions to access pipe assemblies.
• Must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be capable of working in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to welding fumes, heat, sparks, and loud noise.
• Must maintain proper use of PPE including welding helmet, gloves, jeans, and steel-toed boots at all times.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required to operate welding equipment precisely.
• Must be aware of and comply with OSHA safety standards.

Pay Transparency:

The anticipated pay range for this position is $30 to $35 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
